...everyone has one. If it's on the internet, it must be true (not). So why yet another blog, the web equivalent of an op-ed piece, which in some cases is mostly op(inion) and less ed(itorial)?
The Audio Archive, Inc. already has a website, so why a blog, too? The website is chock-full of tools ranging from tutorials and web calculators, to on-line references having to do with audio preservation. But it's not a forum for discussion. However, on-line forums can get quickly out of control and OT (Off Topic) unless moderated. Forums, to me, feel like the breaks that take place at conferences - you meet people and catch up, and talk a bit about the conference, too.
On the other hand, this blog will be more like a conference session itself, with the blog author as the speaker, and your comments like the Q&A session. My goal is to strike a balance between dogma and information anarchy.
So welcome to my "bully pulpit" on audio preservation issues where questions and comments are encouraged, and where hopefully you will find more signal than noise.
